Soil to Plate – Free gardening course in Caldmore Community Garden

When: Monday 26th June 2017 at 1-4pm

Join us for the next free gardening course session at Caldmore Community Garden.

The course generally covers ground preparation, planting and seed sowing plus maintenance of plants and gardens. For those that want to learn or improve their gardening skills and knowledge but are not interested in gaining an accredited qualification.

• Plant, weed, pest and disease identification
• Composting

This course is delivered to cater for absolute beginners and those experienced gardeners within the community. Learning tips and pointers from Jonathan Ensell an award winning garden designer and lecturer with 24 years of gardening experience.

The course is FREE.

The Dupes (The Deceived)

The first Palestinian feature film – 1972 directed by Tewfik Saleh, based on Ghassan Kanafani’s 1962 classic novel Men in the Sun.

Set in 1958, 10 years after the Nakba, it gives an insight into an earlier time of Palestinian oppression. The film follows the journey of three Palestinian from a refugee camp in Iraq, across the desert hoping to find work in the oil boom in Kuwait. Ill treatment, humiliation, heat and checkpoints. Ghassan Kanafani was a writer, political activist and a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The film was released the same year Kanafani was assassinated by a car bomb, he was age 36.

Caldmore Community Garden would like to invite everyone to our “Bees and Butterflies” Open Day this Saturday.

Come to the garden to enjoy the outdoors, relax, learn and be part of a great local community project.

There will be plenty of activities for all ages:
– bees and butterflies arts and crafts
– bee and butterfly friendly plant trail and competition
– make a bee hotel
– face-painting
– barbecue and cakes and drinks at our community cafe.
