Poetry Project

In 2024 Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists collaborated with Caldmore Community Garden as resident poets as a part of our Poetry Project funded by Inclusive Communities Fund with support and match funding from Black Country Touring. They ran series of fun and friendly workshops between July and November inviting people to come along and create their own nature and garden-based rhymes, odes and verses. They also provided opportunities to perform and share all of the wonderful poetry produced at a Poetry Open Mic event.

Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists is a collective of Black Country poets, writers and performers who are passionate about our region, and about the ability of the arts to enrich and transform people’s lives. The core members are Emma Purshouse, Dave Pitt, and Steve Pottinger.  We have individually won prizes for our poetry, collectively had our Edinburgh show nominated for a Saboteur Award.  We often work with other writers and performers, and run our own spoken word nights and workshops both online and in person, encouraging people to find a voice and share their words. We love taking poetry, theatre, and performance into places where it’s not normally found.

Poems written at the Garden!

Below is a lovely collection of poems written by poets who participated in the garden workshops – beautifully crafted words, designed by the talented Gemma Ince, and ready for everyone to explore. Let the verses speak to you!
