Women’s Tuesdays 2024

What are Women’s Tuesdays?

Women’s Tuesdays are a movement that brings women together – a free, welcoming space to get creative, unwind, and enjoy a cuppa with great company!

Each week, we explore a range of crafts and projects, sometimes even joined by talented and West Midlands-based artists to create some beautiful memories and projects!

Have a look at some of the wonderful sessions we’ve had over 2024! From January to December, every session was a memorable one!

January 2024

We kicked off the new year with a burst of creativity! Throughout January, we explored calligraphy, experimenting with beautiful lettering styles, and got hands-on with nature-inspired lino printing, crafting stunning prints inspired by the world around us.

February 2024

February was a fantastic month, filled with hands-on fun! We had an exciting session led by Juneau & Froglife, where we designed and crafted some truly amazing wildlife sculptures – a perfect blend of art and nature. We also explored lino printing further, experimenting creatively to make some beautiful, unique designs.

March 2024

March was another inspiring month, packed with creativity and community! We continued our Speaking Sculptures project with Juneau & Froglife, bringing more amazing ideas to life.

The talented Maureen Russell led a fantastic gelli printing session to continue building on our wonderful skills. To round off the month, we got hands-on with nature printing, this time led by our lovely Estelle, capturing the beauty of the natural world in our artwork.

April 2024

April was a busy but wonderful month! We had another fantastic session with Maureen Russell, this time exploring fabric gelli printing, and adding vibrant designs to textiles.

We were also thrilled to welcome guest artist Haseebah Ali, who introduced us to the stunning work of Farwa Moledina at The New Art Gallery. She also guided us through the intricate world of Islamic geometric patterns. It was a fascinating and inspiring couple of sessions, blending art, culture, and history!

May 2024

In May, while the cafe area was being renovated, we temporarily moved our sessions of cross-stitching to The Table! It made for some wonderful meetups filled with laughter, creativity, and plenty of cuppas.

June 2024

In June, we were joined by the lovely Ruth Radcliffe who led a couple of sessions to do some glass painting with our group. Later in the month, we were joined by Chris from General Public to introduce the group using cob as a creative medium, in preparation for an exciting collaboration with The New Art Gallery in Walsall. We were redecorating our treehouse, and created some macrame leaves and butterflies to hang from the ceiling!

July 2024

July was a busy and wonderful month! In the summer, we did wonderful designs for the tree house with macrame flowers. We did patchwork with Kate Tilley, who is a West Midlands-based artist before having two workshops with Jane Clarke to create some wonderful tie-dyed shirts.

August 2024

In August, we had the fantastic opportunity to work with Jane Clarke all throughout August to create a series of stunning paintings for the outdoor art gallery here at the garden. Everyone poured their hearts into their artwork, and the results were absolutely wonderful, and now they’re proudly on display for all to enjoy!

September 2024

In September, we worked with the lovely Teresa Buskova in making our own artwork using paper collage with a combination of printmaking techniques including Lino printing. We then followed that workshop up with another, this time, to do some ceremonial bread baking, following a Czech recipe! We then followed this up with two sessions at the New Art Gallery in Walsall with Chris. ‘Mud Club’ was a wonderful pair of sessions where we built mobile animal sculptures from cob and other natural materials!

October 2024

In October, we did some wonderful lantern-making sessions for the Festival of Lights event held in November. The process was inspiring to see and it was all in-house, lead by our wonderful Estelle into making these beautiful lanterns!

November 2024

In November, we got creative with some fantastic hands-on sessions, making our very own lip balms and beautiful jewellery pieces – all crafted in-house! Adding to the fun, we were joined by Becky, who led an inspiring workshop on recycled weaving, showing us how to transform everyday materials into something unique.

December 2024

In the final month, we fully embraced the festive spirit with a flurry of crafting! From beautifully handmade Christmas ornaments to stunning wreaths, everyone got stuck in, adding their own creative touches. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season, bringing plenty of laughter and warmth to our last few sessions of the year!

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our weekly Women’s Tuesday sessions – from all the talented artists to our wonderful group of ladies. It was a fantastic year and we hope you’ll join us this year for what we promise will be just as fun and inspiring!
